Possible Causes
Seized brush motor, Shorted suction motor, Overheated motor thermal protector open, Faulty motor driver on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the machine before inspecting brushes or internal wiring.
- 1. Check for mechanical jam: Turn the unit over and remove hair, threads, and debris from the brush roll and end caps. A jammed brush can overload the motor and trigger E2.
- 2. Let the motor cool: If the unit was used for a long period, the internal thermal protector may have opened. Leave the machine unplugged for at least 30–45 minutes, then try again.
- 3. Test without brushes (if possible): On some models you can remove the brush roll assembly and run the unit briefly. If E2 disappears without the brushes installed, the brush motor or brush bearings are likely binding.
- 4. Inspect wiring to motor: Check the harness from the control board to the motor for burnt connectors or loose plugs. Reseat all connectors firmly.
- 5. Replace failed components: If the motor hums but will not spin, or trips E2 immediately, the brush motor assembly or suction motor assembly may be shorted and should be replaced. If motors test good but E2 persists, replace the main control board.
