Possible Causes
Faulty formula tank sensor, Dirty or damaged formula tank valve, Mis-seated formula tank, Failed control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before inspecting sensors or wiring.
- 1. Reseat the formula tank: Remove the formula tank and reinstall it firmly until it clicks. Ensure the bottom valve stem is straight and not damaged.
- 2. Clean the tank valve: Rinse the bottom of the formula tank under warm water while pressing the valve stem in and out to ensure free movement. Remove any dried detergent or debris.
- 3. Inspect tank sensor area: On models with automatic mixing, look where the tank sits for a small magnetic reed switch or micro-switch. Wipe away residue and ensure no foreign objects are blocking the sensor.
- 4. Test with water only: Fill the formula tank with plain water and see if the error clears. If it does, the previous solution may have been too thick or gelled; flush the system thoroughly.
- 5. Replace sensor or board: If the tank and valve are good but E5 persists, the formula tank sensor or the main control board input circuit may have failed and require replacement.
