Carpet cleaner will not start unless handle is fully upright or fully lowered

Safety first: Unplug the unit before working on the handle mechanism.

• 1. Identify handle positions
  • Note when the unit starts/stops as you move the handle.
• 2. Access tilt switch
  • Remove handle side covers to locate the tilt or position switch.
  • Check that the actuator tab on the handle engages the switch correctly.
• 3. Adjust or replace switch
  • If the switch is loose, tighten its mounting screws.
  • If the actuator is broken or the switch does not change state reliably, replace the switch or handle component.
• 4. Inspect wiring
  • Ensure the switch wiring harness is not strained or broken at the pivot point.
