Carpet cleaner will not power on, no lights on control panel, no motor sound

Safety first: Unplug the Bosch carpet cleaner from the wall outlet before any inspection. Never work on a live appliance.

• 1. Check wall outlet and plug fuse
  • Test the outlet with another appliance to confirm it has power.
  • If you are in a region that uses fused plugs, remove the plug fuse and test/replace it with the correct rating (usually 10–13A, check the rating label).
• 2. Inspect the power cord
  • Look for cuts, kinks, burn marks, or crushed sections along the Bosch power cord.
  • Gently flex the cord near the strain relief at the handle and machine base; if power flickers (when briefly plugged in and switched on), the cord is likely damaged and must be replaced.
• 3. Test the power switch
  • Remove the top housing or handle cover (usually Torx or Phillips screws) to access the on/off rocker or push-button switch.
  • Use a multimeter in continuity mode across the switch terminals; it should show continuity when ON and open when OFF.
  • If no continuity when ON, replace the Bosch-compatible power switch assembly.
• 4. Inspect the main control PCB
  • Locate the main control board (usually near the motor compartment).
  • Check for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or a blown onboard fuse.
  • If the board is visibly damaged or has no output voltage to the motor and indicator LEDs (test only if you are trained and using proper isolation), the PCB should be replaced rather than repaired.
• When to call a technician
  • If the cord and switch test good but the unit remains dead, a professional should test and replace the main control PCB and verify insulation resistance.
