Possible Causes
Faulty electronic mode selector switch, Stuck diverter valve, Failed valve actuator motor, Damaged mode selector PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the carpet cleaner before opening any covers.
- Check mode selector knob: Ensure the knob or button moves smoothly and clicks into each position. If it feels loose or does not engage, the selector mechanism may be broken.
- Inspect diverter valve: Locate the internal diverter valve that routes solution between wash and rinse. Check for dried detergent or debris preventing movement. Clean with warm water.
- Actuator test: If your model uses a small motor or solenoid to move the valve, inspect its wiring and connector. Listen for movement when changing modes (with unit plugged in and safe to operate). No sound may indicate a failed actuator.
- Selector PCB: For electronic touch controls, inspect the small PCB behind the panel for moisture damage or corrosion. Replace if traces are damaged.
- Recalibration: Some models require a mode calibration (see service manual). Perform the calibration procedure if available to clear E11.
