Possible Causes

Moisture ingress into control panel, Shorted touchpad membrane, Corroded control panel connector, Faulty user interface PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit immediately if liquid has contacted the control panel.

  • Dry the panel: Wipe off visible moisture. Allow the unit to air dry in a warm, dry room for 24–48 hours before further testing. Do not use a hair dryer on high heat.
  • Open the control housing: Remove screws securing the control panel. Carefully separate the panel to inspect for trapped moisture or corrosion.
  • Clean connectors: Disconnect the ribbon cable or wiring harness from the user interface PCB. Clean contacts gently with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush, then let dry.
  • Inspect the keypad membrane: Look for blistering, delamination, or burn marks. A damaged membrane will need replacement.
  • Replace UI board if needed: If E12 persists and visible corrosion or damage is present on the control PCB, replace the user interface board with the correct Electrolux part.
