Possible Causes
Failed brush tachometer sensor, Damaged magnet on brush shaft, Loose sensor wiring, Faulty speed control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and remove the brush access cover.
- Inspect brush shaft magnet: Some Electrolux models use a small magnet on the brush shaft for speed sensing. Ensure it is still attached and not cracked.
- Clean sensor area: Locate the speed sensor near the brush end. Clean away dust and fibers that may interfere with sensing.
- Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the main board. Reseat connectors and look for damage.
- Test sensor: Using a multimeter or oscilloscope (for advanced users), verify that the sensor outputs pulses when the brush is rotated by hand. Replace the sensor if no signal is present.
- Control board: If sensor and magnet are good but E16 persists, the brush speed control circuit on the PCB may be defective and require board replacement.
