Possible Causes
Failed trigger microswitch, Broken trigger lever, Damaged handle wiring harness, Faulty handle PCB (on advanced models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the carpet cleaner before opening the handle assembly.
- Inspect the trigger: Check that the plastic trigger moves freely and returns when released. If it feels loose or broken, the trigger mechanism may need replacement.
- Access the microswitch: Remove the screws holding the handle halves together. Locate the small trigger microswitch. Press it manually and listen for a distinct click. If no click or it feels mushy, replace the switch.
- Check wiring: Inspect the handle harness for pinched, cut, or broken wires, especially where the handle pivots. Reseat the connector at the base of the handle.
- Continuity test: With a multimeter, test continuity across the switch terminals when the trigger is pressed. If no continuity, replace the switch.
- Handle PCB (if present): Some Electrolux models have a small circuit board in the handle. Look for corrosion from moisture. If damaged, replace the handle PCB.
