Possible Causes
Faulty trigger microswitch in handle, Broken trigger lever, Damaged handle wiring harness, Loose connector at control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the Ewbank carpet cleaner before opening the handle.
- Inspect trigger movement: Check that the trigger moves freely and returns when released. If it feels loose or does not spring back, the trigger mechanism may be broken.
- Open handle housing: Remove screws securing the handle halves. Carefully separate the handle to expose the trigger microswitch and wiring.
- Check switch operation: Press the microswitch by hand; you should hear a distinct click. If not, replace the trigger switch with a compatible part.
- Inspect wiring: Look for pinched, broken, or disconnected wires in the handle harness. Reseat any loose connectors.
Reassemble the handle and test. If E8 continues, the control PCB input circuit may be damaged and require professional service.
