Possible Causes

Stuck recovery tank float, Blocked float cage with debris, Faulty float sensor or reed switch, Mis-seated recovery tank

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before removing tanks.

  • Empty recovery tank: Remove and fully empty the dirty water tank. Rinse it with warm water to remove foam and debris.
  • Clean float and cage: Locate the float inside the recovery tank or tank lid. Ensure it moves freely up and down. Clean any hair or residue from the float cage.
  • Check tank seating: Reinstall the tank, ensuring it sits flat and fully engages the body seals and sensor area.
  • Inspect sensor: If accessible, check the float sensor (reed switch or micro-switch) on the body for damage or misalignment.

If E9 remains even with an empty, clean, and correctly seated tank, the float sensor may be defective and should be replaced.
