Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Gorenje carpet cleaner from the mains before any work. Do not run the pump dry for long periods.
- Check the clean water tank: Ensure it is filled, properly seated, and the tank valve opens when installed. Reseat the tank firmly.
- Inspect the solution inlet filter: Remove the clean water tank and locate the small mesh filter or valve at the base. Rinse under warm water and clear any debris or scale.
- Bleed air from the solution line: Refit the tank, plug in the unit, and (if the machine allows) run the pump for a few seconds with the trigger pressed while the nozzle is pointed into a sink or bucket. If the code appears immediately, stop and unplug.
- Check pump wiring: Remove the lower housing cover (usually held by Torx or Phillips screws). Locate the solution pump assembly and verify that the wiring connector is fully seated and not heat-damaged.
- Test the pump coil (advanced): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the pump and measure resistance across the pump motor terminals with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed pump.
- Replace the pump if faulty: If the pump is open or seized, remove mounting screws, transfer hoses to the new pump (note flow direction arrows), secure it, reconnect wiring, and reassemble the housing.
If E1 persists after cleaning filters and confirming water supply, the pump or control board may require professional diagnosis.
