Possible Causes
Stuck float in dirty water tank, Faulty level sensor, Blocked sensor port, Disconnected sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine and remove the dirty water tank before working on it.
- Clean the dirty water tank: Remove the tank and open any access covers. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove detergent residue and debris.
- Check the float mechanism: Locate the float (usually a plastic piece that rises with water level). Ensure it moves freely up and down. Clean any buildup that may cause sticking.
- Inspect sensor port: Some Gorenje models use a pressure or optical sensor port near the tank outlet. Make sure it is not blocked by sludge or lint. Clean gently with a soft brush.
- Check wiring: If accessible, inspect the wiring harness from the tank sensor area to the main PCB for loose connectors or damage.
- Reset and test: Reinstall the tank, ensuring it is fully seated. Plug in and power on. If E4 clears and suction resumes, monitor for recurrence.
- Replace sensor if needed: If the error persists and the float moves freely, the level sensor or float switch assembly may be defective and should be replaced according to the service manual.
