Display shows E8; unit will not run when the handle is folded or in certain positions.

Safety first: Disconnect from mains before working on the handle or hinge area.

• Check handle position: Ensure the handle is fully locked in the operating position. Some Kärcher carpet cleaners will not run when the handle is upright or folded.
• Inspect position switch: Locate the handle position microswitch or tilt sensor near the hinge. Verify that the actuator tab engages the switch when the handle is lowered.
• Adjust or secure switch: If the switch has shifted, loosen its mounting screws, realign so it clicks reliably when the handle moves, and retighten.
• Check wiring through hinge: Gently flex the handle while observing the cable bundle. If the unit cuts in and out, the wiring inside the hinge may be broken and require replacement.
