Possible Causes
Faulty tilt sensor, Excessive inclination during use, Loose tilt sensor mounting, Control PCB misreading tilt signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before opening any covers.
- Check operating angle: Ensure you are using the Kärcher carpet cleaner on a relatively level surface and not tilting it beyond the specified angle in the user manual.
- Inspect tilt sensor: Locate the tilt sensor module (often a small cylindrical or rectangular component on the main PCB or chassis). Confirm it is firmly mounted and not rattling.
- Clean around sensor: Remove any loose debris or moisture near the sensor that could affect its operation.
- Reset and test: After ensuring the unit is level, plug in and restart. If E9 appears even when level, the tilt sensor or control PCB may need replacement.
