Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Kobold carpet cleaner from the mains before any inspection. Never work on a live appliance.
- Check wall outlet and fuse: Test the outlet with another device. Inspect the plug fuse (if applicable in your region) and replace with the correct rating if blown.
- Inspect power cord: Look for cuts, kinks, or burn marks along the Kobold power cord and at the strain relief where it enters the handle or base. If damaged, the cord set must be replaced as a complete assembly.
- Test power switch: With the unit unplugged, remove the handle or upper housing to access the main on/off switch. Use a multimeter in continuity mode to verify the switch closes when pressed. Replace the switch if it does not show continuity.
- Check internal fuse on PCB: Many Kobold carpet cleaners have a small glass or thermal fuse on the main control PCB. Visually inspect for a broken filament or discoloration. Replace only with the same type and rating.
- Control board inspection: Look for burnt components or corrosion on the main control PCB. If present, the board should be replaced rather than repaired in the field.
If the unit still does not power on after these checks, discontinue use and contact an authorized Kobold service center.
