Possible Causes

Blocked solution pump inlet, Failed solution pump motor, Loose or corroded pump wiring connector, Faulty pump driver on control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the machine and empty the clean water/solution tank before working on the pump.

  • Check solution tank seating: Ensure the Kobold solution tank is fully seated and the outlet valve is opening correctly. Reseat the tank firmly.
  • Inspect and clean filter: Many Kobold carpet cleaners have a small mesh filter at the tank outlet or pump inlet. Remove and rinse under warm water to clear any detergent residue or debris.
  • Prime the pump: Fill the tank with clean water, turn the unit on, and hold the spray trigger for 30–60 seconds. Sometimes air in the line prevents the pump from priming. If the pump starts, allow it to run until spray is steady.
  • Check wiring: Access the pump compartment and verify the pump connector is fully engaged and free of corrosion. Reseat the connector.
  • Test pump motor: With the pump removed and using a suitable low-voltage test supply (per service manual), briefly power the pump to confirm it runs. If it does not spin or is noisy and weak, replace the pump assembly.

If the pump and wiring are good, the pump driver on the control PCB may be defective and the board should be replaced.
