Possible Causes

Jammed brush roller, Broken or stretched brush drive belt, Failed brush motor, Faulty brush motor relay or driver on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the carpet cleaner and lay it on its side to access the brush area.

  • Check for obstructions: Remove hair, threads, and debris wrapped around the Kobold brush roller. Ensure the roller spins freely by hand.
  • Inspect drive belt: Remove the bottom plate to expose the belt. If the belt is broken, melted, or excessively loose, replace it with a genuine Kobold brush drive belt.
  • Test brush motor: With the belt removed, spin the motor pulley by hand. It should turn smoothly. If stiff or noisy, replace the brush motor.
  • Electrical test: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the brush motor windings. If open circuit, the motor is faulty. Also verify voltage is present at the motor connector when the brush function is activated (technician-level test).

If mechanical parts are fine and the motor does not receive power, the control PCB or brush relay may be defective and require replacement.
