Possible Causes
Clogged suction path or filters, Blocked air intake grilles, Failing suction motor drawing excess current, Faulty temperature sensor or thermal cut-out
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before inspection.
- Clean filters: Remove and clean all Kobold pre-filters and motor protection filters according to the user manual. Rinse washable filters and allow them to dry completely before refitting.
- Check hoses and nozzles: Detach the hose and floor nozzle. Inspect for clogs, especially at bends and the nozzle throat. Use a flexible brush to clear blockages.
- Inspect air vents: Ensure all cooling vents on the body are free from dust buildup. Vacuum or brush them clean.
- Check for abnormal noise or smell: If the motor sounds rough or emits a burning smell, it may be failing and overheating internally. In this case, the motor assembly should be replaced.
- Temperature sensor: If airflow is good and filters are clean, the temperature sensor or thermal cut-out may be faulty and tripping prematurely. This requires testing and replacement by a qualified technician.
