Possible Causes

Loose UI ribbon cable, Damaged touch panel or keypad PCB, Moisture ingress into control panel, Faulty main control PCB interface

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the Kobold carpet cleaner before removing the control panel.

  • Dry the panel: If the panel was exposed to water or heavy condensation, allow the unit to dry in a warm, ventilated area for 24 hours. Do not use external heat sources that could deform plastic.
  • Check ribbon cable: Remove the handle or top cover to access the user interface board. Ensure the flat ribbon cable is fully inserted and locked at both ends.
  • Inspect for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion on the keypad PCB or connectors. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush; heavy corrosion usually requires board replacement.
  • Test buttons: If you have a multimeter, check that button contacts close when pressed (for mechanical keypads). For capacitive touch panels, replacement is usually required if unresponsive.

If the UI board is good but E10 persists, the main control PCB may have a communication fault and need replacement.
