Possible Causes
Blown mains fuse on control board, Failed main PCB (electronic module), Damaged power cord or plug, Faulty main power switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Miele carpet cleaner from the wall outlet before any inspection. Never work on a live appliance.
- Check the outlet: Plug a lamp or another appliance into the same socket to confirm there is power. Reset any tripped breaker or RCD.
- Inspect the power cord: Run your fingers along the cord (with unit unplugged) to feel for cuts, kinks, or burn marks. If damaged, the entire cord set must be replaced—do not tape or splice.
- Test the power switch: With the unit unplugged, operate the main On/Off rocker switch several times. If it feels loose, jammed, or does not click, the switch may be faulty and should be replaced.
- Check the internal fuse (if accessible): On many Miele units, the main PCB has a small glass or ceramic fuse. Remove the housing (only if you are comfortable and local regulations allow), locate the fuse on the electronic module, and visually inspect for a broken filament. Replace only with the same rating.
- If fuse blows again or PCB is burnt: Do not bypass the fuse. A repeatedly blown fuse or visible burn marks on the board indicate a failed electronic module. In this case, the main PCB should be replaced by a qualified technician.
