Possible Causes
Stuck float in clean water tank, Faulty level sensor in recovery tank, Wiring issue between sensor and PCB, Contaminated sensor contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect from mains before handling internal parts.
- Clean and reseat tanks: Remove both clean and dirty water tanks. Rinse them thoroughly, especially around any floats or magnetic level indicators. Reinstall firmly.
- Check float movement: In the recovery (dirty water) tank, locate the float assembly. Move it up and down to ensure it is not stuck with dried detergent or debris. Clean with warm water and mild detergent.
- Inspect sensor area: On some Miele units, a reed switch or electronic sensor sits under the tank. Wipe away moisture, foam residue, or dirt that may interfere with detection.
- Reset the unit: After cleaning, unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then reconnect and test. Sometimes the control board needs a power reset to clear the error.
- If error persists: The level sensor or reed switch may be defective and should be replaced. Check the wiring harness from the sensor to the PCB for damage or loose connectors.
