Possible Causes

Overheated motor thermal cut-out open, Worn carbon brushes on motor, Seized motor fan or debris in motor housing, Faulty motor triac or relay on control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the cleaner and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before inspection.

  • Allow thermal cut-out to reset: If the cleaner was used for a long period, the motor thermal cut-out may have tripped. Let the unit cool fully, then try again. Ensure vents are not blocked.
  • Check for mechanical obstruction: Remove the brush head and lower covers to access the motor fan housing. Spin the fan by hand (with power disconnected). It should rotate freely. Remove any threads, hair, or debris.
  • Inspect motor brushes (if brush-type motor): Access the drive motor and remove the carbon brush holders. If brushes are shorter than ~5–7 mm or unevenly worn, replace both brushes with genuine Morphy Richards-compatible parts.
  • Check wiring to motor: Inspect spade connectors and wiring harness from the control PCB to the motor. Reseat any loose connectors.
  • PCB drive components: If the motor tests good on a bench (by a professional) but will not run in the machine, the motor triac/relay on the PCB may have failed. Replace the main control PCB.

If E02 returns immediately after reset and there is a burning smell, discontinue use and seek professional service.
