Possible Causes
Stuck float in dirty water tank, Blocked air passage in tank lid, Faulty float switch or reed sensor on tank, Damaged wiring to tank sensor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cleaner and remove both tanks before working.
- Empty and rinse dirty water tank: Remove the recovery (dirty) water tank. Empty and rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove foam, hair, and debris.
- Check float movement: Locate the internal float assembly (usually a plastic cylinder or ball). Ensure it moves freely up and down. Clean any soap scum or lint that may cause sticking.
- Clean tank lid and air path: Wash the tank lid and any foam filters. Ensure the air passage is clear so the float can operate correctly.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: On some Morphy Richards models, a reed switch or micro-switch detects the float. Check for corrosion on contacts and ensure the connector to the main body is firmly seated.
- Test without tank: With the unit unplugged, bypass the tank sensor temporarily by disconnecting it from the PCB (for testing only). If E04 disappears, the tank sensor assembly is faulty and should be replaced.
Never operate the cleaner without the dirty water tank in place during normal use; this can damage the suction motor.
