Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cleaner and allow it to cool completely. Water heater components operate at mains voltage.
- Check for continuity: Access the in-line heater assembly (usually in the base or handle). With a multimeter, test the heater element terminals for continuity. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Inspect thermal fuse and thermostat: Many Morphy Richards heaters include a thermal fuse and a bimetal thermostat. Test continuity; replace any open components with identical rated parts.
- Check NTC sensor: If fitted, measure the resistance of the NTC temperature sensor. Compare with service data; a reading of infinite or zero ohms indicates failure.
- Examine wiring and connectors: Look for heat-damaged insulation or loose spade connectors on the heater block. Reseat or replace as needed.
Because heater circuits are high-risk, if you are not experienced with mains electrical work, have a qualified technician replace the heater assembly.
