Possible Causes

Failed in-line heater element, Open-circuit thermal fuse on heater, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose wiring to heater assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the cleaner and allow it to cool completely. Water heater components operate at mains voltage.

  • Check for continuity: Access the in-line heater assembly (usually in the base or handle). With a multimeter, test the heater element terminals for continuity. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
  • Inspect thermal fuse and thermostat: Many Morphy Richards heaters include a thermal fuse and a bimetal thermostat. Test continuity; replace any open components with identical rated parts.
  • Check NTC sensor: If fitted, measure the resistance of the NTC temperature sensor. Compare with service data; a reading of infinite or zero ohms indicates failure.
  • Examine wiring and connectors: Look for heat-damaged insulation or loose spade connectors on the heater block. Reseat or replace as needed.

Because heater circuits are high-risk, if you are not experienced with mains electrical work, have a qualified technician replace the heater assembly.
