Possible Causes
Loose NTC sensor on heater body, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty NTC temperature probe, Poor thermal contact between sensor and heater
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug and allow the heater to cool fully before touching any components.
- Locate NTC sensor: Find the NTC temperature sensor clipped or bonded to the in-line heater or water path.
- Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the heater surface with its clip or thermal compound. Re-secure if loose.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor leads back to the PCB. Look for chafed insulation or broken conductors, especially near bends.
- Measure resistance: At room temperature, measure the NTC resistance and compare with service data. If it reads open or short, replace the sensor.
Incorrect sensor readings can cause overheating; if unsure, have a technician verify heater control operation.
