Possible Causes

Clogged suction hose, Blocked recovery tank inlet, Full or incorrectly seated recovery tank, Damaged vacuum gasket or lid seal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Nilfisk carpet cleaner and empty tanks before inspection.

  • Check recovery tank fill level: Empty the recovery tank if full. Ensure the tank is reinstalled correctly and the lid is fully closed.
  • Inspect suction hose: Disconnect the hose at both ends and visually check for clogs. Use a flexible brush or water to flush out debris.
  • Clean recovery inlet and filters: Remove any lint or carpet fibers from the recovery tank inlet and any installed vacuum filters or screens. Rinse and dry before refitting.
  • Inspect lid and tank gaskets: Check the rubber seals around the recovery tank and lid for cracks, flattening, or damage. Replace the Nilfisk recovery tank gasket set if air leaks are visible.
  • Test suction: With the tank installed, briefly run the machine and feel for strong suction at the inlet. If suction is still weak, the vacuum motor or internal hose may be compromised and should be inspected further.
