Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation around motors, Continuous heavy use without cooling, Failed cooling fan (if equipped), Faulty temperature sensor on motor or PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool completely before inspection.

  • Allow adequate cooling: Let the Nilfisk carpet cleaner sit powered off for at least 30–60 minutes. Ensure it is not stored in a hot environment.
  • Check air vents: Inspect all cooling vents and grilles on the motor housing and body. Remove dust, lint, and carpet fibers with a soft brush and vacuum.
  • Inspect cooling fan (if present): Some models have a dedicated cooling fan for the electronics or motors. Access the fan and verify it spins freely and runs when the machine is on. Replace the fan if seized or not powered.
  • Check temperature sensor connections: Locate the thermal sensor or thermostat on the motor or PCB. Ensure its connector is firmly seated and wiring is intact. A loose sensor can falsely report overtemperature.
  • Persistent E05: If the error returns quickly after cooling and cleaning, the thermal sensor or main PCB may be faulty. Replace the temperature sensor harness first; if no improvement, replace the main PCB.
