Possible Causes
Jammed brush deck mechanism, Failed deck lift actuator motor, Broken deck position sensor, Damaged actuator wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine and support the brush deck securely before working underneath.
- Inspect deck movement: Manually move the brush deck (if possible) to check for mechanical binding. Remove debris, bent linkages, or foreign objects blocking travel.
- Check actuator rod and pivots: Lubricate pivot points lightly with a suitable lubricant. Replace bent rods or worn bushings.
- Test actuator motor: Disconnect the deck lift actuator and measure resistance across its motor terminals. If open or shorted, replace the Nilfisk deck lift actuator assembly.
- Verify position sensor: Some models use a microswitch or Hall sensor to detect deck position. Check for secure mounting and proper alignment. Replace the deck position sensor if it does not change state when the deck moves.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the harness from the actuator to the PCB, looking for pinched or broken wires. Repair or replace the harness as needed.
