Possible Causes
Disconnected or failed clean tank level sensor, Dirty or stuck float sensor, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty input circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and drain the solution tank before removing sensors.
- Locate level sensor: On Nilfisk carpet cleaners, the clean solution level sensor is often a float switch or conductivity probe in the tank or at its base. Remove the tank and inspect the sensor.
- Clean float or probes: If using a float, ensure it moves freely and is not coated with scale or chemical residue. Clean with warm water and mild detergent. For probes, remove mineral buildup with a soft brush.
- Check wiring and connector: Inspect the sensor harness for damage and ensure the connector at the PCB is fully seated. Repair any broken wires.
- Test sensor electrically: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the float switch in both positions (full/empty). Replace the Nilfisk solution level sensor if readings are incorrect.
- PCB input check: If a known‑good sensor still triggers E08, the PCB input circuit may be faulty. Replace the main PCB/control module.
