Possible Causes
Damaged keypad membrane, Loose HMI ribbon cable, Moisture ingress into control panel, Failed HMI board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control panel.
- Inspect keypad surface: Check for cracks, cuts, or signs of liquid ingress on the keypad. If the overlay is damaged, replace the Nilfisk keypad membrane or complete HMI panel.
- Check ribbon cable: Open the control panel and verify the flat ribbon cable between the keypad/HMI and main PCB is fully inserted and not corroded. Reseat or replace the cable if needed.
- Dry out moisture: If the panel shows condensation or water, gently dry the area with a lint‑free cloth and allow the machine to sit in a warm, dry environment for several hours. Do not use high heat.
- Test button response: After reseating connections, power up and test each button. If some or all remain unresponsive, replace the HMI/control panel assembly.
