Possible Causes
Moisture inside motor or wiring, Damaged insulation on power cable, Water ingress into switch panel, Faulty vacuum or brush motor causing leakage to chassis
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This fault can indicate a shock hazard. Disconnect the machine immediately and do not bypass safety devices.
- Dry the machine: If the machine was recently washed or exposed to heavy moisture, allow it to dry in a warm, ventilated area for 24 hours.
- Inspect power cable: Check the entire length of the Nilfisk power cord for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections. Replace the cord set if any copper is exposed or insulation is compromised.
- Check for water ingress: Open the switch panel and motor compartments. Look for signs of water, corrosion, or tracking marks. Dry and clean as needed, and replace any soaked insulation or gaskets.
- Insulation testing (advanced): Using a proper insulation tester (megger), test each motor and major component to earth. Any component with low insulation resistance should be replaced.
- Professional service: If you are not equipped to perform insulation testing, contact an authorized Nilfisk service technician.
