Nilfisk Odor / Biological Growth in Tanks and Hoses

Unpleasant odor from machine or from carpets after cleaning

Possible Causes

Dirty recovery tank, Standing water in hoses, Contaminated brush or suction shoe, Use of non‑sanitizing chemicals

Safety first: Wear gloves when cleaning dirty tanks and hoses.

Deep clean recovery tank: Scrub the tank with warm water and a mild disinfectant. Rinse thoroughly.
Flush hoses: Disconnect and flush suction and solution hoses with clean water and approved sanitizer.
Clean brush and nozzle: Remove and wash the brush cylinder and suction shoe to remove trapped dirt and bacteria.
Dry storage: Store the Nilfisk carpet cleaner with tanks empty and lids open to allow drying.
