Machine will not spray solution; display shows E1 shortly after trigger is pulled.

Safety first: Switch off the carpet cleaner and unplug it from the mains before removing any covers. Never run the machine with covers removed.

• Check tank and filters: Confirm the solution tank is correctly seated and filled, and that any inline filter or pickup filter in the tank is not blocked.
• Inspect external wiring: Look for damaged or pinched cables going to the base of the machine and to the handle/trigger. Do not use the machine if insulation is damaged.
• Access the pump area: Remove the lower cover (usually secured with Torx or Phillips screws). Locate the solution pump assembly and its wiring harness.
• Check connectors: Reseat the pump connector on both the pump and the control PCB. Look for corrosion or heat damage on the terminals.
• Test pump resistance: With a multimeter set to ohms, measure across the pump motor terminals. Compare to the specification in the Numatic service manual for your model. An open circuit or very high resistance usually indicates a failed pump.
• Inspect PCB fuse: Some Numatic carpet cleaners have a small inline fuse or PCB-mounted fuse protecting the pump circuit. Check continuity and replace only with the same rating if blown.
• Reassemble and test: Refit covers, plug in, and test. If E1 persists and the pump tests good, the main control PCB may be faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
