Possible Causes
Moisture ingress into motor or wiring, Damaged mains cable insulation, Water leak onto electrical components, Faulty RCD/GFCI plug or module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains immediately. Do not continue to reset an RCD or use the machine until the fault is found and corrected.
- Inspect mains cable: Look for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections along the entire length of the cable. Replace the cable if any damage is found.
- Check for leaks: Examine the machine for signs of water leakage around the pump, hoses, and tanks. Any water near electrical parts must be addressed before further use.
- Drying: If the machine has been exposed to heavy moisture, allow it to dry in a warm, ventilated area for 24–48 hours before retesting.
- Inspect internal wiring: With the unit unplugged, open the covers and check for water tracks, corrosion, or burnt marks on wiring and the PCB.
- Test RCD/GFCI: If fitted with an RCD plug, test it on another appliance to confirm it is working correctly. Replace if faulty.
- Professional insulation test: For safety, have a technician perform an insulation resistance test on the motor and wiring. Replace any component with low insulation resistance.
