Possible Causes
Jammed brush roller, Worn or seized brush motor, Faulty brush motor relay on PCB, Damaged brush motor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before inspecting the brush area. Keep fingers clear of the brush when testing.
- Check for obstructions: Turn the machine over and inspect the brush roller. Remove hair, threads, and debris wrapped around the brush or end caps.
- Check brush spins freely: Rotate the brush by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is stiff or seized, the bearings or end caps may be damaged.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the brush motor wires from the base to the main body. Look for cuts, crushed sections, or loose connectors. Reseat any plug-in connectors.
- Test brush motor: With the machine unplugged, remove the brush motor connector and measure resistance across the motor terminals. Compare to the Numatic specification. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Check for overheating signs: Burnt smell, discoloured windings, or melted insulation around the motor indicate replacement is required.
- Reassemble and test: After clearing jams and checking wiring, reassemble and test. If E2 remains and the motor tests OK, the brush motor relay or main PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced by a professional.
