Possible Causes
Failed brush motor tachometer sensor, Damaged speed feedback wiring, Faulty brush speed control circuit on PCB, Excessive mechanical load on brush
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before accessing the brush motor or PCB.
- Check for mechanical drag: Remove debris from the brush roller and end caps. Ensure the brush spins freely by hand.
- Inspect tachometer sensor: Many brush motors have a small sensor or magnet assembly at one end. Check that it is clean, correctly positioned, and not physically damaged.
- Check wiring: Follow the small-gauge wires from the tachometer to the PCB. Look for breaks, chafing, or loose connectors. Reseat connectors.
- Test sensor (if spec available): Using the service manual, measure the sensor output while rotating the motor shaft by hand. Replace the sensor or motor assembly if no signal is present.
- PCB diagnosis: If the sensor and wiring are good, the speed control circuit on the PCB may be defective and require replacement.
