Possible Causes
Full dirty water tank, Stuck float in dirty tank, Misaligned tank lid, Faulty tank presence microswitch or reed sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Philips carpet cleaner before handling tanks.
- Empty dirty tank: Remove the dirty water tank and empty it completely. Rinse with warm water to clear foam and debris.
- Check float mechanism: Inside the dirty tank, locate the float (often a plastic piece that rises with water level). Ensure it moves freely up and down. Clean any soap residue or hair that may cause sticking.
- Inspect tank lid and seals: Make sure the tank lid is properly seated and the gasket is intact. Misalignment can prevent the tank from actuating the full/presence sensor.
- Check sensor or switch: On the base where the tank sits, locate the tank presence switch or magnetic reed sensor. Press the switch manually (with the unit unplugged) to ensure it moves freely. Clean any debris around it.
- Test operation: Reinstall the tank firmly until it clicks. Plug in and test. If E10 persists, the sensor or its wiring may be faulty and require replacement.
