Possible Causes
Air trapped in solution line, Partially blocked inlet filter, Loose hose connection drawing air, Weak solution pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Philips carpet cleaner before removing tanks or hoses.
- Refill and reseat tank: Fill the clean water tank completely and ensure it is firmly seated to avoid drawing air.
- Prime the system: Plug in the unit, then hold the spray trigger continuously for 60–90 seconds over a sink or bucket to purge air from the lines. Some sputtering is normal at first.
- Clean inlet filter: Remove the clean water tank and locate the inlet filter screen on the base or tank outlet. Rinse it under running water and brush off any debris.
- Check hose connections: Inspect the clear solution hoses for bubbles while the pump runs. Tighten or reseat any push-fit connectors that may be drawing air.
- Assess pump performance: If the pump is very noisy and flow remains weak after priming and cleaning, the pump may be worn and should be replaced.
