Possible Causes
Dirty or blocked brush roll, Faulty brush speed sensor (Hall sensor or tachometer), Loose sensor wiring, Failing brush motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Philips carpet cleaner.
- Clean brush roll: Remove the bottom cover and take out the brush roll. Remove all hair, threads, and debris from the bristles and end caps.
- Inspect speed sensor: Many Philips models use a small Hall-effect sensor near a magnet on the brush or motor shaft. Clean the area of dust and ensure the sensor is positioned close to the magnet.
- Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the PCB. Reseat the connector and look for pinched or broken wires.
- Test brush motor: With the brush roll removed, run the unit briefly (if safe) to see if the motor spins freely. If it stalls or is noisy, replace the brush motor.
- Replace sensor if needed: If the brush spins normally but the unit still shows E13, the speed sensor may be defective and should be replaced.
