Possible Causes
Depleted or aged battery pack, Faulty charging adapter, Loose battery connector, Battery temperature sensor fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the unit and disconnect the charger.
- Check charger output: Use a multimeter to verify the Philips charger outputs the rated voltage. Replace the charger if there is no output.
- Inspect battery contacts: Remove the battery pack (if removable) and clean the contacts with a dry cloth. Ensure they are not bent or corroded.
- Allow battery to cool: If the unit was used heavily, let the battery cool for 30 minutes before attempting to charge again. Overtemperature can trigger E18.
- Try a full charge cycle: Connect the charger and allow the unit to charge uninterrupted for the recommended time. Observe if E18 reappears.
- Replace battery pack: If runtime is very short or E18 persists despite a known-good charger, the battery pack or its internal temperature sensor is likely faulty and should be replaced with a compatible Philips battery module.
