Excessive foam builds up in the dirty water tank and may cause the motor to sound strained.

Safety first: Unplug the Philips carpet cleaner if the motor pitch changes or foam reaches the tank inlet.

• Empty and rinse tank: Remove the dirty water tank, empty it, and rinse thoroughly to remove detergent residue.
• Use correct detergent: Only use Philips-approved low-foam carpet cleaning solution at the recommended dilution. Avoid household dish soaps or laundry detergents.
• Check foam baffle: Inspect the foam baffle or deflector inside the dirty tank. Ensure it is correctly installed and not cracked or missing.
• Use defoamer if needed: For very foamy carpets (previously cleaned with other detergents), add a small amount of carpet machine defoamer to the dirty tank as per product instructions.
