Possible Causes
Undersized extension cord causing voltage drop, Inadequate generator capacity, Loose mains connections inside machine, Faulty line voltage sensor on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Always disconnect power before opening the machine. Use only properly grounded outlets.
- Check supply voltage: Use a multimeter to measure voltage at the outlet while the machine is running (if possible). It should be within the specified range on the Prochem rating plate (typically around 230V or 120V depending on model).
- Use correct extension cord: Replace long, thin cords with a heavy-gauge cord (e.g., 12 AWG or better) and keep length as short as practical. Avoid coiling the cord tightly during use.
- Verify generator capacity: Ensure the generator can supply the starting and running current required by the Prochem unit. Many carpet cleaners require a dedicated circuit or high-capacity generator. If the generator sags under load, upgrade or use mains power.
- Inspect internal connections: Open the electrical compartment and check all screw terminals at the terminal block, contactors, and control PCB. Tighten any loose connections and look for heat damage. Replace any burned connectors.
- Voltage sensing circuit: If supply is stable but E06 persists, the line voltage sensing circuit on the control PCB may be misreading. Replace the control PCB.
