Rug Doctor digital carpet cleaner will not spray solution; display shows E3 when the spray trigger is pulled or cleaning mode is selected.

Safety: Unplug the machine and empty tanks before disassembly.

• 1. Confirm water supply: Ensure the clean water/solution tank is properly seated and filled. Check that the tank valve opens when installed (press the valve stem to verify flow).
• 2. Prime the pump: Sometimes air in the lines triggers an E3. Fill the tank, reinstall it, then with the unit powered on, hold the spray trigger for 30–60 seconds to allow the pump to prime. If the code persists, continue troubleshooting.
• 3. Inspect spray nozzles and lines: Remove and clean the spray jets/nozzles. Soak them in warm water and clear any debris with a soft brush. Check the solution hose for kinks or pinches.
• 4. Access the pump: Unplug the unit and remove the lower cover to access the solution pump assembly. Check for leaks, cracks, or loose wiring. Reseat the pump connector on the control board.
• 5. Test pump operation: With the pump disconnected, measure its resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed pump. If resistance is normal but the pump never receives voltage when spraying is commanded, the pump driver circuit on the control PCB may be faulty and the board should be replaced.
