Possible Causes
Failed main control PCB, Corrupted firmware, Loose ribbon cable between display and power board, Shorted low-voltage power supply on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before opening the control panel.
- 1. Power reset: Disconnect the machine from power for at least 5 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Plug back in and check if E9 clears.
- 2. Inspect control connections: Remove the control panel cover and check the ribbon cable between the display/keypad and the main power board. Reseat both ends carefully.
- 3. Check for board damage: Examine the control PCB for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or corrosion. Any visible damage usually requires board replacement.
- 4. Low-voltage test: If you are experienced with electronics, you can test the low-voltage outputs (e.g., 5V, 12V) from the board. Absence of these voltages indicates a failed power supply section.
- 5. Replace control board: If connections are good and E9 persists, replace the main control PCB with a Rug Doctor-approved part.
Note: Firmware updates, if available, should only be performed by authorized Rug Doctor service centers.
