Possible Causes
Blown mains fuse in plug, Damaged power cord, Faulty on/off switch, Failed control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from the mains before inspecting the plug or opening the unit.
- Check plug fuse: For UK-style plugs, open the plug and test/replace the fuse with the correct rating specified on the label.
- Inspect power cord: Look along the entire length of the Russell Hobbs power cord for cuts, crushing, or exposed wires. Replace the cord if damaged.
- Test socket: Plug another appliance into the same outlet to confirm it is live.
- On/off switch: If comfortable, remove the housing to access the switch. Check for loose spade connectors or signs of burning. Replace the power switch if it feels loose or does not latch.
- If still dead: The control PCB may have failed and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
