Possible Causes
Clogged dirty water tank filter, Blocked air path, Overfilled dirty water tank, Failed thermal cut-out sensor on motor housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the carpet cleaner. Allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before further checks.
- Empty dirty water tank: Remove and completely empty the dirty water tank. Rinse it and ensure the float valve moves freely and is not stuck in the raised position.
- Clean filters: Locate the foam or mesh filter in the dirty tank lid or suction path. Wash with warm water, squeeze out excess water, and allow to air dry fully before refitting.
- Check airflow path: Inspect the suction nozzle, hose (if detachable), and internal channels for blockages. Remove any debris.
- Ventilation: Ensure the motor ventilation grills on the sides or rear of the unit are not blocked by dust or carpet fibers. Clean with a soft brush.
- If E4 persists after cooling: The thermal cut-out or temperature sensor on the motor housing may be faulty, or the motor may be overheating due to internal damage. Motor assembly or sensor replacement is recommended via a service centre.
