How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the carpet cleaner before any inspection. Do not attempt live electrical testing unless you are qualified.
- Check mains outlet and plug: Test the wall socket with another appliance. Inspect the Russell Hobbs plug and cable for cuts, kinks, or burn marks.
- Inspect the power switch: Ensure the on/off switch moves positively and is not stuck. Some models have a safety interlock that requires the handle or tank to be correctly fitted; refit all components firmly.
- Internal fuse (advanced): If you are competent with electrical repairs, remove the housing to access the control PCB. Look for a small glass or ceramic fuse. If blown, replace only with the exact same rating. If it blows again immediately, there is a deeper fault.
