Carpet cleaner will not stand upright or the head will not lock in the upright position

Safety first: Unplug the machine before working near moving joints.

• Inspect the lock: Examine the base where the handle meets the body. Look for a broken or missing latch piece that normally holds the unit upright.
• Clear debris: Use a small brush to remove dust and fibers from the pivot and lock area. Sometimes compacted debris prevents the latch from engaging.
• Test engagement: Gently move the handle from reclined to upright and listen for a click. If there is no click and the handle falls back, the lock mechanism is likely broken and needs replacement.
• Part replacement: Replacing the upright lock usually requires disassembling the base cover. If you are not comfortable with this, have a technician replace the SEBO upright lock assembly.

Do not lean the machine against furniture as a workaround; it may fall and cause damage or injury.
