Machine will not start, red LED 1 illuminated or flashing on SEBO carpet cleaner handle or body

Safety first: Unplug the SEBO carpet cleaner from the wall outlet before any inspection. Never work on a live appliance.

• Check the outlet and fuse: Plug a lamp or phone charger into the same outlet to confirm power. If dead, reset the breaker. If the plug on the SEBO has a replaceable fuse (UK/IE), open the plug and replace the fuse with the correct rating (usually 13A) and test again.
• Inspect the power cord: Run your fingers along the SEBO power cord from plug to machine. Look for cuts, kinks, or crushed sections, especially near the strain relief at the handle or base. If the cord feels hot, cracked, or intermittent when wiggled, the cord set should be replaced.
• Check the main power switch: On many SEBO carpet cleaners the main on/off is a rocker or push-button on the body. With the unit unplugged, press it several times to free any stuck contacts. If the switch feels loose, jammed, or does not click, it may be defective and should be replaced.
• Internal wiring harness: If the cord and switch appear fine but LED 1 remains on or the unit is dead, the internal wiring harness or PCB may be open. At this point, disassembly is required to test continuity with a multimeter. This should be done by a qualified technician to avoid damaging the housing or wiring.

Do not bypass safety devices such as thermal cut-outs or fuses. If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or opening the machine, contact an authorized SEBO service center.
