SEBO
Static Electricity Build-Up
Static shocks when using the carpet cleaner on certain carpets
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Low humidity environment, Synthetic carpet fibers, Insufficient grounding through power cord, Worn anti-static components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Static shocks are uncomfortable but usually not dangerous. However, always unplug the machine before internal inspection.
- Increase humidity: Use a humidifier in very dry environments to reduce static build-up.
- Footwear and contact: Wear shoes with conductive soles and avoid dragging the machine by the hose only. Keep one hand on the insulated handle.
- Check cord and plug: Ensure the SEBO power cord and plug are undamaged and properly grounded (for models with earth pin). Replace damaged cords.
- Anti-static strips: Some SEBO heads use anti-static brushes or strips. If missing or worn, have them replaced by a technician.
If you experience strong shocks or see sparks at the plug, stop using the machine and have it inspected for grounding issues.
